Bruce is an attorney who can litigate, mediate or collaborate.

Litigation- As an attorney, Bruce has been awarded the highest rating by the national lawyer-rating service, Avvo.com.  Since graduating in 1994 from the University of Washington School of Law near the top of his class, Bruce has litigated over one thousand cases in a wide variety of areas of the law. Bruce was one of the first attorneys in Stevens County to volunteer for the Washington State Bar Association’s “Moderate Means Program“, offering reduced rates to people of moderate means.  Bruce standard rates are $125/hr. for general civil matters and $150 for domestic matters; but he offers discounts for those on legal insurance programs and referred through the Moderate Means Program.

Mediation- Bruce is also a certified mediator.  Bruce was in the first class to graduate from the Alternative Dispute Resolution program of the University Of Washington School Of Law in 1994.  He was trained and certified through its Mediation Clinic, led by his good friend Associate Professor Michael McCormick. Bruce has been mediating for over two decades.  Bruce has worked in the field of mediation and conflict resolution since the mid-1970’s.  He received his initial training and certification through the Pacific Family Mediation Institute in the mid-1980’s. In the late 1980’s he began providing mediation training with his wife Janis for lawyers, judges, therapists and other professionals in domestic mediation skills with Pacific Family Mediation Institute until he moved to Stevens County in late 1994.  Bruce was Co-President of the Mediation Consortium of Washington State in 1989 (now the Washington Mediation Association).

Bruce offers mediation services in the areas of divorce, parenting plans/custody; property distribution; neighbor/neighbor; landlord/tenant and employment disputes.  Bruce also offers “Shuttle Mediation” where people can negotiate while in separate rooms (or telephone contact) and “Co-Mediation” where Bruce works with another mediator for a combined rate of $150/hr. There is a two-hour minimum and Bruce’s rate is $40 to $100 per hour, on a sliding fee scale.

Collaborative Practice- A founding member of the Spokane County Collaborative Professionals, Bruce was the first attorney in Stevens County to become certified as a Collaborative Professional and is the only one that is certified by the International Association of Collaborative Professionals.
